    Course

    The Topman Rapel course

Topman Rapel is a weekend of open-water triathlon in the Rapel area of the O'Higgins region: the kids and first-timer (Debutantes) races run on the Saturday and the Olympic and Sprint on the Sunday. The 2026 edition is based at Camping y Cabañas El Ensueño, while the 2025 race was staged at Villa Alejandra, so check the racebook for the exact transition site.

The Olympic is 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running, the Sprint 750 m, 20 km and 5 km, and drafting is allowed on the bike at both distances. Run aid stations are no more than 2.5 km apart, and the Olympic cut-offs are 45 minutes for the swim, 1:30 for the bike and 1:15 for the run. The organisers have not published course maps or elevation yet; they arrive in the racebook before race day.

    Formats
    Olímpico, Sprint
    Race-day conditions
Late November is late spring in central Chile, and Santiago normals for the month are about 10–27 °C with almost no rain, so expect a warm, dry, sunny day. The wetsuit rule is set the day before according to the water temperature, so bring your wetsuit and be ready to swim without it.

    What to train for

With drafting allowed, practise riding in a group at race speed, taking turns at the front and staying out of trouble at turnarounds.

The Olympic 1.5 km open-water swim should feel routine: swim 1,500 to 2,000 m continuous in open water every week or two, with sighting and mass-start practice.

Finish every key session with a brick run of 15 to 30 minutes at 10 km effort, and rehearse drinking on the bike, because the run will likely be warm.

    Taper

    Tapering for the Topman Rapel

Start the taper seven to ten days before race day. Trim the volume in all three sports, keep short race-pace efforts in each, and do one last short brick so running off the bike still feels familiar.
