Course
The Meia de Piracicaba course
Everything starts and finishes in Parque da Rua do Porto, the riverside park beside the pedal boats, with the half off first at 5:30 a.m., the 10K at 6:05 and the 5K at 6:35. The organiser's route map for the half measures 21.5 km with 148 m of total climbing: from the park it heads west, then runs a long out-and-back to the north-west that is covered twice before a closing loop to the east brings you back to the river.

The 10K (9.9 km, 64 m of climbing) and 5K (5.2 km, 45 m) use shorter versions of the same city streets, and the race bills all three as a tour of Piracicaba's best-known sights. Expect gentle rises rather than real hills, chilled water on the course and at the finish, and pace-based start corrals from under 4:00/km to over 6:30/km. The time limit is 3 hours, and this is the final stage of the Corre SP half marathon circuit.

- Distances
- Half marathon, 10K, 5K
- Weather on race day
- December is early summer in Piracicaba, with average lows around 20 °C and highs around 29 °C, so the 5:30 start usually sits in the low 20s and warms quickly after sunrise. It is also the rainy season (about 194 mm in the month), so humid air and a passing shower are likely: drink early, and ease off goal pace if the morning is already muggy.
What to train for
The early start is the biggest adjustment: do several long runs at 5:30 a.m. with breakfast around 4:00 so your stomach and legs learn the timing.
The repeated out-and-back makes the half easy to split into blocks, so practise long runs of 16 to 20 km where the second half of the out-and-back section runs at goal pace.
With only 148 m of climbing spread over 21.5 km, rolling routes and 6 to 8 x 20-second strides after easy runs are enough for the hills. Train through some warm, humid mornings in November so your sweat rate and drinking plan are tested before race day.

Taper
Tapering for the Meia de Piracicaba
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week. With the race on December 13, 2026, your taper starts around December 1, 2026.
