Food and drink stations sit at about km 5.2, 10 and 15.2 and at the finish, with sponge points added at km 8.3, 12.2 and 18 if the day is warm. Pace groups cover finish times from 1:25 to 2:20, and the overall time limit is 3 hours, with cut-offs at 45 minutes for 5 km, 1:30 for 10 km and 2:15 for 15 km. The 10 km starts at 11:00 at Verbania Fondotoce and shares the finish in Pallanza.

- Weather on race day
- March on Lake Maggiore is usually cool and fresh, with daytime averages around 11 °C and nights near 4 °C, and only a few rainy days in the month. A 10:00 start helps, as the air has had time to warm a little. Bring a throwaway layer for the wait on the Stresa lakefront and dress for about 8 to 12 °C while running. Check the forecast in race week, since a breeze off the lake can make it feel cooler than the numbers suggest.
What to train for
Early March means most of your build happens in winter, so protect consistency first: three or four steady runs a week will carry you a long way.
Because the course runs one way along the lake, practice even pacing on long runs of 16 to 19 km, settling into goal pace by km 5 instead of chasing the first fast kilometres out of Stresa.
Add a weekly tempo of 5 to 8 km at half marathon effort, and if you plan to join a pace group, rehearse its pace in training so it feels familiar. Easy runners will find the 3 hour limit generous, so enjoy the views and run your own race.
