Course
The Clarksville Half Marathon course
The Clarksville Half Marathon & 5K, run by Clarksville Parks and Recreation, starts and finishes at 102 Public Square in downtown Clarksville on a USATF-certified course with city views. Its signature twist is the ruck division: men carry 30 pounds and women 20 pounds in a worn backpack, weighed at check-in and check-out, in both the half and the 5K.

In 2026 the half started at 7:00 am and the 5K at 7:30 am, with a 3.5-hour limit for half marathon runners and 4.5 hours for ruckers. The 2026 race on November 14 was the third edition, with a new route and separate prize money for ruck and non-ruck divisions. The 2027 date has not been announced yet.

- Half marathon, 5K
- Weather on race day
- Ten years of mid-November weather data for Clarksville show average highs near 60 °F and lows near 42 °F, with about 44 °F at 8 am. That is cool, comfortable running weather, but rain falls on about one day in four in this window. Start in gloves and a light layer you can shed, and ruckers should expect to warm up quickly under the pack.
What to train for
For the run, build to a long run of 10 to 12 miles with a weekly tempo of 20 to 30 minutes at half marathon effort.
If you ruck, build load gradually: start with 10 to 15 pounds on short walks and add weight and distance over several weeks, and train in the exact pack you will race in.
Mix brisk ruck walking with short jogging intervals to find a sustainable race rhythm. Add a few short hill repeats each week so any grades on the downtown course feel manageable.
