Time limits are 1 hour 20 minutes for the 5K, 1 hour 50 minutes for the 10K and 3 hours 30 minutes for the half, so walkers and newer runners are welcome. The 2026 edition is the 10th annual race, part of the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run/Walk, and it supports Whole Again, which provides meals and enrichment programs for at-risk youth.
- Distances
- Half marathon, 10K, 5K
- Weather on race day
- Late November in Cincinnati averages a high near 50 °F and a low near 34 °F, so the 8:30 a.m. start is usually in the mid to upper 30s. There is about a 25% chance of a wet day, nearly all of it rain, and skies grow cloudier through the month. Winds are fairly light, around 7 mph on average, mostly from the south. Dress in layers you can peel off, with gloves and a hat for the start.
What to train for
A paved trail course is ideal for steady pacing, so build your plan around consistent aerobic mileage and one key session each week.
Half marathoners should work up to long runs of 10 to 12 miles, and 10K runners will benefit from intervals like 5 x 1 kilometer at goal pace with short recoveries.
With everyone starting at once, practice settling into your own rhythm in the first mile rather than chasing faster runners. Thanksgiving week is a good time to taper: keep a few short, sharp strides and rest well before race morning.
