Course
The Europarque Meia Maratona course
The half marathon and the 12 km Troféu Europarque Running start together at 16:00 at Europarque, the congress and exhibition centre in Santa Maria da Feira, and finish back there. The renewed course heads into the city centre on Avenida Francisco Sá Carneiro, Rua Comendador Sá Couto and Rua Dr.

Vitorino de Sá, past the Câmara Municipal, then returns to Europarque along the Ecovia do Caster, a green path beside the River Caster. The organisers call it faster but more demanding than the previous route and have not published an elevation profile: expect short urban rises and turns in the centre and a smoother run home on the ecovia. The late-afternoon start is unusual for a Portuguese half, and both races have a 3-hour limit.

- Weather on race day
- Late March in the Porto region is usually mild and changeable: around the 16:00 start, temperatures are typically 14–17 °C, with Atlantic showers and a breeze possible. These are good conditions for fast running, but pack a light layer and expect wet roads if it rains.
What to train for
An afternoon start changes your routine, so do two or three long runs and one tempo session in the late afternoon and rehearse a race-day lunch about 3–4 hours before.
The city-centre section has short rises and tight corners, so add hill strides and fartlek on rolling ground to stay smooth through them.
Tempo runs of 8–10 km at half-marathon pace prepare you to push the faster return along the ecovia. For the 12 km, intervals of 1–2 km at 10 km pace are the key session.

Taper
Tapering for the Europarque Meia Maratona
Start the taper ten to fourteen days before race day. Cut your weekly volume by about a third, then by half in race week, and keep a few short efforts at race pace so your legs stay sharp. The course rolls, so keep one short session on undulating ground in the first taper week.
