Course

The 5K is one loop, the 10K is one loop (your watch may read a little long), the 15K is a 5K loop followed by the 10K loop, and the half marathon is two 10K loops. The 10K and half use a newer route that passes through Pioneer Village before returning to Fifty Springs. Full aid waits at the start/finish, there is a hydration station at halfway, and there is no time limit to finish.
- Distances
- Half marathon, 15K, 10K, 5K
- Weather on race day
- Early November near Caesar Creek is cool and usually dry-feeling, with regional averages around 53 °F for the high and 34 °F for the low. The 10:00 a.m. start means you will likely run in the 40s °F, which is comfortable once you are moving. The race runs rain or shine, and the trails can get very muddy after rain, so bring a dry layer for the finish and shoes with good grip.
What to train for
Singletrack rewards quick, light feet more than raw pace, so get onto forest trails at least once a week and practice short, attentive strides over roots and turns.
Run by effort rather than pace on your long runs, building to about 10 to 12 miles for the half (or 6 to 8 for the 15K).
Add some hill repeats or rolling trail runs, since the FAQ mentions elevation gain. Trail shoes are recommended, and above 10K a hydration vest is suggested, so train with the gear you will carry.
